New York Knicks

The New York Knicks had their best season since the 2012-2013 campaign, fueled by an improved roster that avoided major injuries throughout the season. Roger Hinds and Dr. Anthony Goenaga led a New York medical team that helped the Knicks finish the year with the second fewest games lost to injury or illness in the NBA and ended as the healthiest team in the Eastern Conference.

The team’s success in the training room conceded with a more prudent approach by the front office. Prior leadership often acquired headline grabbing names like Amar’e Stoudemire or Joakim Noah, ignoring their checkered injury histories. However, since Leon Rose took over the Knicks have opted to build around players like Jalen Brunson and homegrown talent like RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and Mitchell Robinson. Even when they have gambled on players with injury concerns, like Kemba Walker or Derrick Rose, the long-term investment has not been significant.

Repeating the success found last season will go a long way with an essentially unchanged Knicks roster. Managing the minutes of their backcourt to start the year may be a primary focus for Goenaga and his group as Barrett, Brunson, and Evan Fournier spent their summer playing with their respective national teams.
