Minnesota Timberwolves

After trading for Rudy Gobert in the offseason, the Minnesota Timberwolves had limited opportunities to see their two All-Star bigs together. Karl-Anthony Towns suffered a Grade 3 calf strain in late November and missed the next 52 games recovering. Towns’ prolonged absence cost the Timberwolves over $21 million in salary dollars, the highest total attributed to one player last season.

Vice President of Player Health and Head Athletic Trainer Gregg Farnam, a staple of the Timberwolves organization, enters his 28th year with the team. Farnam is well-regarded around the league and spent time with Team USA and the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders program. Farnam’s familiarity with these programs should allow him to successfully navigate the workload of players like Gobert, Towns, and Anthony Edwards, who all played for their respective national teams this offseason. The Minnesota front office displayed further confidence in Farnam and his medical team, drafting guard Jaylen Clark. Clark suffered a torn Achilles while at UCLA and will begin the year rehabbing.
