Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers entered the halfway point of the 2022-2023 season with a 23-18 record. Unfortunately, franchise stalwart Tyrese Haliburton suffered a left elbow sprain and a left knee bone contusion in a loss to the Knicks. The Pacers went 1-9 in the 10 games Haliburton missed and lost six of the next seven once he returned. The injury persisted for the remainder of the season as Haliburton and the team ended the year out of the playoffs for a third straight year. Despite the impact of Haliburton’s injuries, the total number of games lost to injury or illness was remarkably improved, down 55 percent from the prior season. Josh Corbeil and the Pacers medical team has a track record of success, including eight top-10 NBA finishes in fewest games lost since Corbeil took over in 2005. Bone injuries, including TJ Warren’s navicular fracture and a stress reaction in Myles Turner’s foot, have been a concern over the past few seasons but the team enters the year healthy and ready to contend for the postseason.
